ABOUT ARTIST

“I picked up my first camera when I was 8 years old. I was so fascinated that a little plastic black box could freeze time. I started to develop a love for staging sets and taking pictures of subjects that I found to be curiously beautiful. I began to use photography as self expression & as a way of immortalizing personal and intimate moments. Images carry so much emotional content, and I feel blessed that my gifts can be shared in such a personal way in people’s lives.”

Angie Choi Toronto Photographer

Who are you?

Hey! My name is Angie, and I’m based in Toronto. I’m a documentary photographer for weddings, fine art portraiture, families, babies, dogs, plants & anything that strums my creative heart strings. Other random facts about me is that you should never leave a bag of chips around me (because I will devour it), my best friend is my dog, I love drawing, reading/writing poetry, and caring for my plants at home. I will dance anywhere if the vibe is right and would consider myself a free spirited person who wants to see it all – the love, the light & dark, and all the raw parts of life.

When did you start photography?

I graduated from Ontario College of Art & Design in 2010 with a bachelor degree in Photography, but I’ve been creatively shooting for more than a decade. Wedding photography kinda found me after numerous jobs of assisting, designing, teaching, retouching, heavy lifting, fetching lattes & lunches for hungry photographers, cleaning studios – you name it. I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else. Officially, I left my last full time job in 2014 & have been a full-time photographer ever since. It’s been one hell of ride with no regrets. <3

Do you travel for work?

Yes, I’m available for commissioned work world wide.
