If you’re planning a session for your small business, engagement shoot, family, maternity or any other type of portraiture – you’ll find some helpful tips here. Our sessions start at 60 minutes and are perfect for small groups (max. 4 people for family shoots). All our sessions are naturally lit without studio lighting equipment which allows for our candid approach & style. (studio lighting equipment available if stylistically indicated)
Engagement, maternity, portraits for branding are all considered lifestyle portraits. Our goal is to create authentic, fun images with gentle direction. We like to bounce between journalistic and a mix of editorial so you can still take home a variety of unique, creative images that will also "wow" your friends, family or for your own business brand.
FAMILY & CHILDREN
For families & children - we use a children-lead approach where we allow your children to lead the flow of the shoot and let authentic moments happen. We find this approach to be less overwhelming for young children (and for parents) and results with the most memorable & unique images. Our family sessions allow children to fully express their authentic selves.

Planning Your Portrait Session
Do you have a favourite movie? Is there an image you saw recently that made you feel something? Are you drawn to cinematic images? Are you more comfortable to take candid photos? These are all great questions to ask yourself when you're considering the "look" of your portrait session.
Once you have an idea of the "look" you want, you can start to deciding the location, time to start (for natural light) your shoot. You can also check out our Pinterest account for more inspiration.
Lighting & Location
Our style is heavily influenced by natural light. For outdoor sessions, our favourite time of day to shoot is during sunrise and sunset. However, we're happy to shoot anytime during daylight hours for indoor sessions.
Location plays a small part to the "feel" of your shoot but we encourage you to shoot somewhere that will make you feel comfortable & that is meaningful to you. For busier locations with lots of people - we gently encourage you to shoot during sunrise or on Mondays.

Studio Rental & Permits
Your session does not include the cost of studio rental or permits. We strongly encourage to book studio time as soon as possible if you're trying to match up with our availability as well.
Commercial locations and SOME city parks will require a permit, so we encourage you to do some research and obtain a permit before your shoot to avoid disappointment. If we are approached by security and do not have a permit, we will have to leave the property.
Rescheduling & Availability
Our Lifestyle sessions are available on weekdays only. Since we operate mainly as a wedding photography business - our weekends are extremely limited.
If you plan on rescheduling, please let us know 48 hours before your session. Your first reschedule FREE. Last minute or additional rescheduling will result in a $75 service fee.
If you hope to shoot outdoors, please stay informed about the weather during the week of your shoot to make the best possible decision. You may consider switching locations if you need a rain plan.
Travel Service & Fees
Our lifestyle sessions include a complimentary 25KM of travel from Toronto. If your location is outside of our travel radius - please email us at email@example.com to receive a quote.
Printing Images For Your Event
We recommend booking your session 3-4 months before your event. If you're looking to print images before your event - our turnaround time for the completion of final images is 14 business days.
Portrait sessions all include 6 months of archival in an online gallery where you can directly order & ship prints from an online store.
